Procurement and Sourcing occupies a central place in the affairs of the major players in the oil and gas industry. The technicalities involved in procurement and sourcing has made it almost an exclusive preserve of international oil service providers and a few local players. The larger Nigerian business community has been unable to tap into these multibillion-dollar activities to grow their businesses and the local economy owing chiefly to lack of capacity in the areas of knowledge and basic skills in procurement and sourcing operations.

The local content initiative of the Federal Government of Nigeria opens up the space for old and new local businesses to access procurement and sourcing business opportunities in the oil and gas industry. The pillar for effectiveness in procurement and sourcing rests on quality management of supply orders to determine whether to buy or not, the control of procurement expenditure and timely delivery of products and services.

This workshop is designed to enable new and established private companies that deal in oil and gas supplies and procurements to acquire the necessary knowledge in oil and gas procurement and sourcing. The workshop program includes operation support in a multi-supplier market, managing changing prices and delivery terms. There will be special emphasis on the provision of required level of stock in resources to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing and/or sales process, and the minimisation of non-core resources. Participants will learn and take away with them functional tools and resources on Procurement and Sourcing Management.
